The Ramey memo is one of the most debated pieces of Roswell evidence because it appears in a genuine 1947 photograph taken in General Roger Ramey’s office at Fort Worth Army Air Field. While posing with debris that the military publicly identified as a balloon, Ramey was also holding a sheet of paper. Decades later, researchers began enlarging the image in an attempt to read the document’s text. Some believers argued that the memo contains phrases referring to a crashed “disc” and even “victims of the wreck”, while sceptics countered that the image quality is too poor to support such specific readings. The memo exists because Fort Worth Star-Telegram photographer J. Bond Johnson captured a series of photographs on 8 July 1947 while Ramey displayed recovered debris to reporters.
